Day at home

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Malena or Malin, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather was frigid cold overnite. Got down to at least –7F. Probably a bit colder here than in town. Today was a heat wave. Saw 24F late this afternoon.

I stayed home all day and did nothing of memorable. loaded dishwasher, laundry, took photos, napped, worked on lesson for swedish group, printed Christmas letter to go in a few Christmas cards.

Frigid cold, drifts, no tv

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Anna, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather is frigid cold.  Frigid. And it shall get worse. Maybe –12F tonite. The low last nite was 6F. At 3pm, we are a balmy 12F. We had winds over nite so the snow drifted. Willie says the roads are treacherous and our driveway is drifter over. I have things to do tomorrow, but maybe cancelling.

There is a huge drift by the house and the kittens were clueless how to climb it to get to the cat food. They did figure it out.

I have rejected walking about for photos today. Just too cold. Staying in.

Our tv has quit working. Well, not the tv itself but our DirecTV. Worked fine until 1110am. Then the screen got screwy like when the clouds are very thick and we lost satellite connection. Will probaby have to call them to see why.

Extreme cold, no sleep, and snow...

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Angela or Angelika, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather is frigid cold.  Frigid. And stayed that way. But there was no wind which helped. It was cloudy but no snow until 915pm. Now we have snow. Our patio is getting slick. No wind yet.

Not a good day in any way. I had very little sleep. Awake until 3am and awake again at 8am. I did take a nap and that helped some. Still obsessing over our children. Must quit. Must learn to care as much as they do. Just kept asking ‘why’.

I forced myself to drive to Lindsborg late this afternoon for groceries. I thought that Willie could do it but he loaded calves to bring home all day and it did not go well. I was worried with a blizzard warning that we might need food that takes no electricity to fix and eat. With my diabetes I wanted to make sure there was food in the house. And the car was on empty and if there is an emergency I do not want to drive in 10F, blowing snow, and no fuel. I bought nothing healthy. My stress was in charge.

Willie did have some help with the calves so I did not worry quite so much. I did hit the panic button when he never came home for lunch but then when I talked to him I was ok. Every day I worry while he is gone. Today was just worse for me. Is life supposed to be like this?? Where are the good times?

I cancelled my acupuncture. Moved it to another day. I skipped my last movie class. Hated to but just could not go. Next semester will be better. And now I see I am down to work on wednesday. Depends on the roads. Doubt anyone comes in during bad weather anyway.

Open house, snow, sadness

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Barbara or Barbro, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather is frigid cold. Takes lots of layers to feel warm. Then today we have snow. Started very very light early morning. When I came home around 2pm things were getting white. Not deep or anything. Tonite it is a bit slick. We are in an winter weather advisory tonite, but monday nite through tuesday nite we are in a winter storm watch. Up to 6 inches of snow with high winds. Heard that before and we got nil, nada, zilch. Will not believe them until I see it.

The freezing rain and/or snow has been forecast for at least 2 days. None of our roads were treated to prevent ice from forming. Never saw anything done until 8pm tonite. Nice that the county was on top of this. Not.

Saturday was Artist’s Open House in Lindsborg. All the studios are open. Or all who want to be. There are some who do not participate. Even some whose studios are open are not a part of this. The Red Barn had between 80 and 100 guests. Mid afternoon we had a woodwind trio perform. Then a pianist after them. One of our guests was a ‘princess’!! She was from the parade in the morning. I even met a good friend of my new cousin Chris! Good for the soul!

Saturday nite my college movie class and some friends met for a Christmas get-together. We had snacks, wine, coffee, and a movie special. Our teacher Eric put together a series of clips that are rarely, if ever, seen. Met a new guy there, Aaron. We hit it off. He needed a ride home and he lives on my way home, so I gave him a lift. The whole evening was good for my soul. If only it would last.

Today I met John, Sally, and Paul for lunch. Great great food!! Good conversation. Then I had to unlock the Red Barn. And the docent showed up on time, not 10 min. late. Amazing. Surely it is going to blizzard! I stayed and we visited for 90 min. Very nice. I rarely get to see her.

I came home and tried to nap, but i only could cry. No more boring details than that. Does not matter.

Willie actually suggested we go out to eat. He never ever suggests we do anything together. Major blizzard approaching. And the roads are even slick but he still wants to go. We at the new Timberline Steak House. Awesome food. Will go back. I had baked potato soup and coconut shrimp with pina colada dipping sauce. Mmm.

The purse I just bought recently has now had the strap break twice. I am really pi$$ed. I love this purse. I put my stuff in an old just now. I will donate the broken one. Maybe somebody will have a way to fix it.

On the way to town Willie and I talked about our children and how difficult it is having 2 adult kids but in reality, we have lost them. How does that happen? Whatever I did to pi$$ off the powers that be, I am truly sorry. I certainly am not a perfect person, but am I that evil? Must be. We are both sad.

It goes........

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Barbara or Barbro, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather is frigid cold. Got down to 11F last nite. it did not take me long to feed the cats this morning. And there was heavy frost everywhere. It did get up to 32F but is felt pretty cold all day. Chance of snow starting sunday nite.

Yesterday I did nothing. A bit of laundry. Went through a stack of books/magazines. And through out a bunch with another sackful going to a thrift shop. Have some nice scrapbooking/cardmaking books.

Swedish club this morning. We had to meet in the basement of our building instead of our usual room. Same for next week. I hate meeting down there. It is a lot of work to haul all our supplies from upstairs to downstairs. And this month is my month to make coffee. Had a great program. My cousin talked about how our church was founded 140 years ago.

I met Sally for lunch at Jalisco’s. Did not have my fave waiter but he told our waiter what I wanted before he came to my table! Nice to be taken care of so well!

Willie met Sally and I at her office. We got him a supplemental insurance. No problems.

I was then off to the Red Barn to deliver plates and napkins for tomorrow. It is Artist’s Open House in Lindsborg. I usually enjoy the day but I am dreading it. After losing a piece of ceramics to a thief, I am so nervous when we have a crowd. Will be a long long day. Then I have an open house at nite. I just want to be home and do nothing.

I stopped in at a yard sale to pick up a book I was buying. And to chat a bit with John.

Tomorrow there is a bus trip to a wonderful church north of here that does the most awesome swedish smörgåsbord for Christmas. It originally was scheduled for 15 dec and I was going. Then they changed it to 5 dec. With Artist Open House, there is no way I can go. I am so disappointed. I was really looking forward to it. I hope they all have a great day. Wish I was there. Could have gone to a Smörgåsbord last nite but I would have had to go alone. Could not bare to go there alone and watch everyone else with a friend or family member.

Busy two days.......

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Beata or Beatrice, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather was great on tuesday, in the 60s. But, what a change today. At one point the temp was 37F and the howling winds were at 37 mph. I have just froze all day!! It was sunny and no snow here.

Tuesday I took my brother Jay to Salina to get his new eyeglasses that he was supposed to have 2 months ago. They screwed up his first set of lenses and had to totally redo them. We had a nice meal at Applebees.  I had paper plates, napkins, cups, etc. to buy for 2 events this saturday. And I bought supplies at Vita Villa to make bath salts.

Jay and I also had to go to the bank to close credit cards for our parents. Dad has been dead for at least 5 years and Mom for a year. And they had a safety deposit box we switched over to our names. Does this stuff never end? Can our parents just not be dead and gone?

Today I met my friend Jenny for lunch. She was Mom’s and my bus driver when Mom had a dr. app’t out of town. I see her often but it was nice to have lunch with just her.

After lunch I had an acupuncture app’t. I fear I may not survive this holiday season. I am close to a total collapse, mentally anyway. So i had extra needles for my depression. Hopefully my mood will lift and I will not feel the need to cry most of each day. Not sure it matters though.

John is working at a yard sale this week. I went over today and looked at the offerings and bought some Swedish books, a ceramic bowl, Swedish table cloth.

Willie sold our calves today. Sorted them last nite and loaded and sold today. Poor Jo was not included in the activities. She was not happy. He got home tonite and almost fell down - twice. His knee gave out. So what happens if he falls out in the middle of no where?

What a pair we are --- I can’t quit crying, he can’t walk, and where are those to support and care for us? Ah, life is good………..

Lunch, errands, and class

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Anders or Andreas, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather was warmer today and quite nice. Few clouds. I saw a huge fire at the bombing range to the west of us. They were burning grass, no doubt. Tonite when I took off for Lindsborg, the moon was high in the sky. Got a nice photo.

Met my friend Connie for lunch in Salina at Chili’s. Good food. And we had a good talk. Talked at length about my life. It helped. Did not nor could it solve my dilemma or even make things better. There is no making things better or easier for me. I just try to survive.

I had some things to buy at Target. And bought myself a few things. Shopping therapy always helps for a momentary good feeling. Had some photos to pick up. A couple of rolls of photos that were Mom’s. Many were of Dad and Mom refused to get them processed. She could not bear to look at them. Many were ones similar to some I took. I skimmed through them. Had to look at her and Dad again. Will be easier in january.

Then through the car wash. Car was filthy. I photographed the moment for prosperity.

Met Eric for supper at Jalisco’s. And I have now arrived!! My fave waitier Agustin met me at my booth with my diet Coke (dieta). He asked if I wanted flautas without sallad but with beans. THAT is service!!!

Class was fun tonite. We talked about which movie star do we think is beautiful and why. And we saw some clips. Next week is our last class. Gotta sign up for next semester. Before class another professor I am friends came in to chat with me. I get to pick him up when he flies home from his semester break. He always flies home for Christmas. I have missed picking him up for a year or so. last year he saw his family and then lived in Sweden for 6 months.

New Kittens

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Sune, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather was cooler today. Cloudy until this evening.

This morning when I went out to feed my cats, I saw some little kittens peeking out from a hiding place. After I went inside, they came out to eat. And again tonite. There are 3. One is a long haired black with a grey neck. The second is a short haired calico. The third one is grey. This afternoon I just sat outside (and almost froze). All three came out and walked around my feet. IF I moved, then they hid. So cute. They already know that ‘kitty kitty’ means food! Fast learners!

I met Sally, Paul, Richea, and John for lunch in Lindsborg. Richlea flew home today.

It is going to blizzard. For sure. The volunteer at the Red Barn who was scheduled is one of two who very rarely actually work their one sunday out of 5. She always expects someone else to work for her and never offers to trade. I am soo stressed over this bunch of people. Well, as far as I know, she worked. Amazing.

Went out to eat in Salina tonite. Willie actually suggested going. That never happens. Gonna be a horrific blizzard! After we ate we drove downtown to see their new Christmas lights. I was underwhelmed. They are better than the old-fashioned huge white lights with only 1 out of 4 lit they have had for years. But nothing to write home about.

Work, kids, friends

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Malte, then today is your day! Grattis!

Weather was very nice today but turns colder tomorrow then a warm up and late next week very very cold.

Today I worked at the Red Barn. First John came in with around 20 paintings. I took photographs of all of them and will print them next week. Then he is sending them on to Red Cloud Nebraska’s Opera house. He paints scenes from Willa Cather’s life and books. Nice work he does.

Then the tours started. I gave around 10 tours today. And they donated money. But. One group had 4 very small kids. Kids that never stopped moving. I told the adults they could join the tour group in progress. They went to the other end of the studio where I could not see them. After having a piece of art stolen recently, I am really paranoid. I finally told them they HAD  to stay with me. I explained it was not them but our recent loss. I held my breath until they finally left. I was almost a basket case.

I got word at work that my friend David from Wichita was on they way to Lindsborg and wanted to eat with John and I. I get so lazy once I get back home but really wanted to see David to I agreed to meet them at Jalisco’s. I drive 10 miles to get to town. And then 10 home again. Great to see him. Had a good visit. We ended the meal with splitting a dessert, flan. Too good for words.

I drove around town taking photos of Christmas lights. I need a new camera. Or new lens. Or a tripod. Or just more brains. Some came out perfect. Some not. I rested the camera on a solid surface. Did not help. Grateful for the good one.

Working on creating a Christmas graphic for my Christmas cards. My heart is truly not in it. I just don’t care at all. They are not going to look like the holiday, more like winter. God, I hope I handle the holidays better next year.
