Blowin' in the wind....

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Konrad or Kurt, then today is your day!

Weather is cooler, cloudy, & high winds. In fact, we have been in a wind warning that lasts until tomorrow. Then rain is coming and maybe some snow early next week. Too early to really know though.

I worked today while Marsha and Mary were out of town at a meeting. I sent out all this month’s dues due letters and logged all our visitors from the sign in book. Then nothing. No calls. No tours. No complaints. Nice to have it quiet so I can just sit and enjoy the studio.

That was my day. Really quiet. My mood is really bad so maybe that is ok. Not fit to be around people.

Veteran's Day

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Mårtin, then today is your day!

Weather is cooler and cloudy. No rain but there was a chance of early fog. The weatherman even mentioned snow in places this weekend. Time will tell. No plans this weekend so I really do not care.

Today is Veteran’s Day here. My father was tail gunner in WWII. He was stationed in Morocco, India, Burma, Tinian Island, and Hawaii. He flew more missions than was allowed at the time. All his missions involved flying over The Hump. I lost 2 friends and a cousin in Vietnam. Bless them all.

Willie has been fighting a sore knee for a while. Came on sort of suddenly. Says he never injured it or anything. It was very swollen and sore. Swelling went away but stayed sort of sore. Has been going to the chiropractor. Yesterday got much worse. More swelling and more pain. He has been using a heating pad but switched to ice last nite. even got up in the middle of the nite. I want him to call our family doc but you know men. He sees the chiropractor and then I will push the issue.

Nothing happening today. Nice to do nothing but stay home. One needs to recharge their battery sometimes.

Tuesday/catching up

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Martin or Martina, then today is your day!

Weather is cooler and damp. Cloudy for 2 days but no rain here. Just a sprinkle.

Last sunday I went to Kansas City on a bus trip to the New Dinner Theater to see Church Basement Ladies II starring Barry Williams. It was just hilarious! I loved every moment. In some plays the ‘big name star’ has a tiny tiny role. Barry’s role was anything but. He did a great number like Elvis and in another dressed like an African or whatever native and danced. A great day. Except for our bus driver. He was not good. Many errors and almost ran a car off the turnpike. I was scared we would not get home. See photos of the day here.

When I came home I saw a package in the kitchen. Our neighbours are from Mexico and their son had brought over a package of homemade tamales. Wow!! at least 10 of them! Very good!!! Willie had helped them find one of the calves and they repaid us with tamales. Mmmm!

Sunday nite I  watched the futboll play offs. My team, Sounders FC, lost so my season is over. No more soccer until March. How will I survive?? But there will be lots to read and new players to add.

Monday was hair cut day. I could tell it was getting a bit long. Needed to be shaped up. Much better now.

I met Eric and Kathi for supper monday evening. We ate at Jalisco’s. Good eats!! Then it was movie class. Eric rode with me. We watched an Ida Lupino movie called Outrage. It was pretty good. Followed it with a good discussion.

Saturday

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Ingegerd or Ingela, then today is your day!

Weather was beyond awesome today. Incredible. It was 75F and sunny with little breeze. Coming to an end soon though.

Went to my church today with John for the yearly pancake feed put on by the local Boy Scouts. All the pancakes you can eat plus sausage or bacon. Very good eating for only $3.50.

Then it was a work day for me. I had one thing that HAD to be done. The weather was soo nice that I then sat outside in the front courtyard. I had no tours and no phone calls. A perfect day.

Was a GREAT football day today in Kansas. KSU beat KU this afternoon. Oh, for the whining and excuses already coming from the KU side. Have some aquaintences --- not friends --- who live, eat, and breathe KU sports. They are bad sports whether they win or lose. And treat KSU friends like dirt. I am quietly enjoying the day.

Probably no blogging tomorrow. Gone most of the day and then my futboll team is in a playoff game. I might --- MIGHT --- get to watch it live or not long after.

Picture of the Month - October

Every first Friday of each month, Picture of The Month will take place here.

Choose one picture that best portrays what you’ve been up to that month.

It can be an artistic piece, a non-artistic one, an abstract, a landscape, titled, untitled… feel free, but tell us the little story behind it –why you chose that specific shot, how you took it,

or any other aspect you’d like to share about it.

Make sure you publish it for everyone and please leave the link to your post on Dani's and others' posts.

Ready? Set?… Shoot!!!"

August was a month of many diverse activities ---  art shows, local festivals, changing leaves, but the high point of the month was a week spent in Phoenix. Went to dog sit but had time for eating out, 2 days at a spa, shopping, and enjoying the local flowers. Here is photo from IKEA.

06/11/09 Friday

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Gustav Adolf, then today is your day!

Weather is still good but still with a bit of wind. It stayed in the 50s overnite and hit 75 today. Too nice. We are spoiled.

Swedish group today. Tension continues in the upper ranks. I surely hope those who attend have no clue. I am not sure what to do. There is a solution but it means more work for me. I am debating.

Had a great program today. A lady who attends the First Baptist Church gave a bit of history about it. She is an excellent speaker and very humourous. She was a pleasure.

I called Sally at the last minute for lunch and was glad I did. She brought with her Richea (daughter), Paul, John (boss), Chad, and Melissa (Richea’s friend). We had a nice lunch and lots of laughs. And Chris was our chef. He does my hamburger perfectly!!

Tried to nap today but just could not, but I rested.

Today would have been my dad’s birthday. Made me sad.

My boss had surgery today. Finished chemo a couple of weeks ago. Surgery went fine and they saw no tumour. Hope her lymph nodes area clean also. Radiation comes next. It was an outpatient surgery.

Signs of Jultid (Christmas) are appearing in Lindsborg already.

Monas Dare - Something white

This little "Game", "Competition" or whatever I shall call it - it is not a contest! I came up with this idea (Maybe some will think it is corny... silly or whatever, but then they do not have to join so there! lol) I just thought this could be a fun way to get to know each other, get our inspiration going and use our cameras or painting programs!

I call this game "I dare you!" and every Friday I will dare you to show me something! (Nothing nude or nasty!!) Obviously it has to be your own photos, or graphics!

I changed one thing, it doesn't have to be a NEW photo, you can pick any photo or graphics you have!

This Friday I will make it an easy one, show me something white.

Leave the link HERE in my comments so I can come and see!

My entry is a photo from a couple of winters ago – white snow and ice.

On the road again....

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Eugen or Eugenia, then today is your day!

Weather is still good but the winds are howling. Not so bad in town but driving from town to town today was not so easy. Windy again tomorrow. And warm. It was in the 70s today and again tomorrow.

I HAD to get up really early for a 9am meeting at the Red Barn. We discussed the Artist’s Open House coming up in december. A fun time but a very long long day for me. I rarely get a chance to visit any of the artist’s studios. Oh well. There is one I usually go to, but this year there is one I would love to visit. Probably won’t get time to.

Then on the road to Abilene. Pharmacy sent me the wrong insulin. And then they faxed my dr. to write a refill for the same wrong insulin. What in the hell is going on with them?? They are always on top of things.

Then lunch at Sonic. It was just OK. Had cheeseburger, cheese tots which I barely touched, and ice cream.

Back to Salina for groceries. Our Dillon’s store has been completely and totally refurbished. Everything new, even new carts. Not quite done. Wow. Really nice but I was lost! Everything moved!! I never asked anyone to be a host or hostess for Swedish group tomorrow so it is me.

Then I had to pick up Willie so he could get his truck. Finishing up our last 2 small fields of wheat. Hope he gets done before it rains again.

Tonite had an ALLY meeting. Have a new secretary. He is cool! We are hoping to get a documentary to watch in december. It is about Erin Davies and her car. Called Fagbug. I am anxious to see it. Next semester we are having a show that is both very fun but with a serious message. Will be fun.

Now home. Someone is upset that I get to watch a 1 hr. tv show. One hour out of 7 days. Too much to ask? I would think not but then what do I know. I rarely watch what I want. I dcvr everything and watch later. Someone watches all he wants and then sleeps through it all. Grow up and deal with it.

Jo is just strange. She laid next to the front door with her head kind of propped up on the door. And she just stared and stared at Willie. Her eyes were droopy with sleep but she kept staring. Very odd.

A walk in the park....

Hej kära bloggläsare!

If your name is Sverker, then today is your day!

Weather is wonderful!! I am still wanting snow but I am truly enjoying this late burst of warmth.

I had an acupuncture app’t today in McPherson. It was ok. No major problems. After my app’t I went to Walgreen’s. On the way I passed the local park with a lake. Thought it would be a nice day to be in a park.

I spent almost an hour there between 3-4pm. At least 4 different cars parked and they owners walked to the water to feed the geese. It was just beautiful there. So relaxing listening to the geese, the water, the breeze. And there were at least 5 squirrels near me that were burying nuts for the coming winter. I wish I had taken my ‘real’ camera with me. Must return again this week while it is still nice. See my photos here

Christmas e-cards guidelines

Be Alert! - Bogus Holiday eCards May Bring Bad Tidings

Cyber criminals take advantage of the increased number of legitimate e-cards sent during the holiday season to send out their own fraudulent, and potentially damaging, e-cards. These spammed messages may try to lure you into clicking on malicious links in order to compromise your PC with a Trojan horse or virus.
Be extra vigilant in the weeks ahead when you get an e-mail claiming, "You've received an e-card," unless you're certain it's from a trusted friend or family member. It only takes a moment to check out an e-card, and it could save you hours of headaches:

  • Examine the e-card notification closely before clicking on any links contained within it. Are there typos in the message? Does it lack a personalized greeting that identifies you by name? Those are warning signs.
  • Look at the link you're asked to click on in order to receive the e-card. If it ends in ".exe," it's an executable file—a file that automatically executes code to install and run programs and routines. A legitimate e-card will not have an executable file, so seeing one is evidence of a scam. Do not click on the link.
  • Check the headers of the e-mail to see if the Web address is different from the one displayed in your Inbox. If it is, this is another warning sign.
Should you receive an e-card notification containing one or more of these "red flags," do not click on the link. Simply delete the e-mail from your Inbox. In addition, continue to follow these basic security precautions:
  • Use a firewall.
  • Use antivirus and antispyware software and keep it up to date.
  • Never download or click on anything from any unknown source.
  • Don't accept an end-user agreement without reading the fine print first; you might inadvertently agree to install spyware or something else you don't want.
Exchanging holiday e-cards can be a wonderful part of the season. Just make sure you keep your eyes open before you open those e-card links.
