City Girl Today

Weather is wonderful!! It was 64F today, no clouds, light breeze. And it is november. Unbelievable.

I had a dr appt in Wichita today. I was running late and surprised my blood pressure did not show that!!! And they were running behind also. Good appt. Nothing special. But I did say ‘Merry Christmas’ for the first time. Won’t see any of the staff and my doc unitl february. Nice group of people.

My nurse did explain to me about who gets the H1N1 shot and why. She said that people over 50 have been exposed to the swine flu many times in their lives. It is not a new disease. We have a bit of resistance to it. Young people have not been exposed to it very often and are more apt to get it. My doc said that wash hands or use sanitiser often, don’t touch your face, gargle, drink hot liquids.

My friend David Friday saw that I tweeted I was in the city, so he responded that I could come get the painting I bought from him. Thank God for GPS!!! I had no clue how to get to his barbershop but no problem. I drove there like I lived in the city. It may not always be the most direct or easiest route, but if you are clueless, it is a God-send. Love my painting. He painted it from a photo I took. I am so honoured!

Then I needed some lunch. But where to go??? I do not enjoy eating alone, but I can do it. I had a sandwich place in mind but………..next door is an ice cream place. What a dilemma.  I could not have both. The ice cream won. And I ate it outside. It was pretty good, but absolutely not even close to GB Glace. The best thing in Sweden, next to the people!!! I would kill for one of their ice cream bars now.

I did some shopping and then came home. I had my iPod in the car. What a joy!! On the way home I listened to Peter, Paul, and Mary: In Concert. I maybe don’t sound like Mary, but I can sing with vigor and lots of feeling!! On the way to the city, I listened to Sting – If On A Winter’s Night. It is an awesome album. It is quiet and peaceful, like hot chocolate by a warm fire. Both of those albums had the same song on them --- A Soalin’ or Soal Cake. I love it. I also listened to some wonderful Swedish folk music with touches my soul. The In Concert album is very special to me. I saw that concert live in Emporia Kansas. Wow. (A Soalin’ is about Wassailing.)

Today was a really good day.

Weather has been nice. There was rain north of us but never got this far south. Could see the clouds though. Supposed to be fairly nice for the coming week. See if the are correct.

I have not felt well for several days. On saturday I felt congested in my lungs, very dizzy, tired. I took that god-awful liquid from my acupuncturist. I think it halted whatever was going on. Sunday I was better but still not well. today mostly just tired. I cancelled my acupuncture and class. Just need rest to get through the rest of the week.

I was really sad to miss our band playing on Halloween. Something fun I enjoy. And I had hoped that would take my off not having Mom to celebrate Halloween with. Turned out to be a sad nite. I also did not go to work. Sunday I had planned to have lunch with Chris. We will do it another day.

Busy day tomorrow, but I do have my car. Woot!!

Finally some sun and my car!

Weather was windy, cold, and rainy. I thought it was to be nice today. I thought wrong. The sun finally came out late this afternoon.

Had Swedish club this morning. I was soo tense after last week. It went ok. Still some tension but at least nothing was said and no one attacked anyone. I was still on pins and needles. Why, oh why, cannot people be tolerant and thoughtful to each other? And, for God’s sake, think before you verbally attack someone.

Had lunch planned with John and Sally. Sally brought along Annika and Chad. What fun we had!! Got to talking about spooky things and horrific bugs and snakes and whatever. And we laughed!! The most fun lunch I have had in a while!! Glad it was not dark. We would have scared each other silly!

Got called late this afternoon that my car was ready. Willie and I went to pick it up. We first ate at Season’s. Was hoping Chris was the chef but he was off. He and I texted for a while and are meeting for lunch this sunday. I have a nice grandson.

Felt strange to drive my car again after a week of the truck. But I adapted quite fast. Be nice to have it back. I know I can park it!! The truck I never could park it right. I was so worried about parking this noon on Main St. Found a place with 5 empty spots so I had it easy. And no one was dumb enough to park next me!!

Remember!!!! Change your clocks in the USA tomorrow late evening or very early sunday morning. Extra hour of sleep!! Whoo Hoo!!!

Monas Dare - Something yellow

This little "Game", "Competition" or whatever I shall call it - it is not a contest! I came up with this idea (Maybe some will think it is corny... silly or whatever, but then they do not have to join so there! lol) I just thought this could be a fun way to get to know each other, get our inspiration going and use our cameras or painting programs!

I call this game "I dare you!" and every Friday I will dare you to show me something! (Nothing nude or nasty!!) Obviously it has to be your own photos, or graphics!

I changed one thing, it doesn't have to be a NEW photo, you can pick any photo or graphics you have!

This Friday I will make it an easy one, show me something yellow.

Where is my ark???

If your name is Viola, then today is your day!

Weather was nothing but rain, rain, and more rain. At midnite last nite it was thundering and lightning. And only got worse. As of this afternoon, we had 1.60 inches and around Lindsborg, there is water --- deep water --- in the fields and ditches. Wheat sowing has halted, corn picking has stopped, etc. Stayed around 50-60 degrees so not terribly cold.

I went to Assaria for lunch with Naomi and Gem. A nice get-together. I enjoyed the conversation.

Then off to Lindsborg. I went to the Bouquet Shoppe and bought a small bouquet of flowers. Today would have been Mom and Dad’s 58th wedding anniversary. Jay & I put the flowers on their graves. I cried last nite and a bit ago. I am just so sad.

I SAW my car today. I even touched it. But it is still at the garage. They had to order a part and are waiting for it. With my luck, I won’t see it until monday. Headed to Wichita next week and would prefer the car to the truck, but I am really liking the truck.

Tonite is a soccer game. Season is over, now we are in the play-offs. Home game that is a sell-out. I am on pins and needles. Wish it was time now!

Freedom!!!

Weather was supposed to be ok today but the weatherman lied again. It was cloudy and windy. then this morning we had light rain. Now a large area of rain is getting near. About an hour away now. Denver and area had heavy snow today. Heard from a friend that her friends there had a foot of snow with drifts up to 18 inches. And still snowing. I am jealous!!! 

Willie worked on sowing wheat. I helped him move machinery from one field to another. And took several photos. He even worked until after dark. I always worry if he is ok. And now his knee became swollen and sore so he is limping. Another worry. Life is hard when he has no one to turn to and I have no support system to speak of.

I got brave and drove the new truck today. Had to go to Lindsborg to get my brother Jay. Then we drove to Salina so he could see the eye dr. New glasses are on the way.

Jay took me out to eat at Moka’s. A wonderful place. You forget that Salina exists. Seems like you are in a city like Denver or Kansas City. How I wish.

then I bought groceries. We were sooo out of things to eat. I came home and treated myself to a cup of Seattle’s Best coffee and a Krispy Kreme donut. Mmmm. A great way to end the day.

The natives are getting restless....

Weather is ok but we have wind today. And a few clouds. Feel very autumn-like. Rain starts tomorrow. The wind is strange. Blows hard from the east and then pretty soon it blows from the west. Poor leaves keep going back and forth!

No word on the car yet. Have to take my brother somewhere tomorrow so will have to drive the truck. I do not want to do that. Not comfortable driving it but no choice.

Willie is back to sowing wheat. Jo is unhappy to be stuck at home also. She stays mostly in the bathroom. Then goes outside briefly and then right back in. No interested in anything.

Home Alone...

Weather is back to sunny today. No wind. Just nice. I sat outside with the cats tonite. Had to have a coat on but otherwise nice.

No car yet. Not even a phone call. Class was cancelled tonite so I am not missing anything. Teacher is ill. Hope he recovers quick.

Willie helped friends load cattle to haul into the sale barn. I was home alone. Needed groceries badly. Nothing to cook. All I had was a truck hooked up to a cattle trailer. Like I can drive that!!! Or even unhook that!! Slim pickins for all.
