Monas Dare - Anything Purple

This little "Game", "Competition" or whatever I shall call it - it is not a contest! I came up with this idea (Maybe some will think it is corny... silly or whatever, but then they do not have to join so there! lol) I just thought this could be a fun way to get to know each other, get our inspiration going and use our cameras or painting programs!

I call this game "I dare you!" and every Friday I will dare you to show me something! (Nothing nude or nasty!!) Obviously it has to be your own photos, or graphics!

I changed one thing, it doesn't have to be a NEW photo, you can pick any photo or graphics you have!

This Friday I will make it an easy one, show me anything purple.

Leave the link HERE in my comments so I can come and see!

My entry is a photo from Chandler Arizona of some flowers I took a closeup of.

Back to normal

If your name is Manfred or Valfrid, then today is your day!

Weather has been sooo cold. High of 30 on saturday, 40 on sunday, and today we hit 50. Have had lite intermittent drizzle but 70% rain tomorrow. Not wheat sowing for sure.

Was in Arizona last week. I went with Sally to dog sit for her daughter Richea. Dog is a 98 lb. boxer named Tyson. It was a great week. Flew out sunday afternoon on a small 50 seat jet. I hate those small planes. We lived in a gorgeous town home. Loved it. Went to a great spa called Dolce Salon and Spa. On monday we each had a Swedish massage. I cannot put into words how great it was. I have had many massages and this was the best ever. Then we returned on wednesday for facials, shampoo, and style. Great facial but the worst, absolute worst shampoo and style ever. I looked awful. Awful. But I felt great!!!

Also last monday I got to go to IKEA. I never thought I would ever get near one. It was awesome to be there. If I had money and was not flying, I could have spent a fortune. We ate lunch there of Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy, lingon, and Princess Tårta. Awesome.

We did lots of shopping last week. Mostly Sally shopped for Richea’s house. We seemed to be lost much of the time but we saw lots of the city!! And the city is truly gorgeous. I cannot wait to return.

Enjoyed Tyson. He is a cool dog. I cried when we said goodbye.

Got home last friday at 1am. Returned to find a dead battery in the car. Last weekend was the Hyllningsfest in Lindsborg. I had planned to attend the parade on saturday, but………….it was too cold (30F), I was too tired, and I always went with Mom. Just the thought of sitting there along without her made me cry. Then I went into work at 11am and worked until 430pm. I rarely sat down for a second. Constantly on my feet giving tours. I thought  would die.

There were cousins here last weekend from Denver and Minnesota. They never emailed/called/texted/ etc. to let me know they were coming or that they were here. I was and still am extremely hurt to be blown off so rudely. Would have been nice to even just have coffee with them but they were not interested.

Today I had a hair appt. and got rid of any traces of the horrid hairdo of last week. Looks so much better.

Met John and Rodger for supper. Rodger is the current artist in residence at the Red Barn. He also went to class with me.

Back to class tonite. Classmate Ty shared a flavoured water with me. He is the nicest guy I have met in a long long time. The movie we watched was Fat Girl. Very very disturbing French movie with a horrific ending that had me spooked all the way home.

Violence is never the answer.

03/10/09 Last blogg post for a week

If your name is Evald or Osvald, then today is your day!

Weather was very much cooler today. It got down to 39F and we had our first frost. I just froze in the house. At work the studio felt like the Ice Hotel! But we had no wind and lots of sun. All in all, very nice.

I worked this afternoon. got all my letters done and mailed to those whose membership is due. About closing time a group of 9 came in. They did not want a tour since it was near closing but I said that makes no difference. They were a delight and made my day!! They laughed at my jokes and asked lots of questions. They were interested in what I said. They made my day!!

I noticed at work in my office the new huge painting that was for sale was gone. Had it less than a week and it sold already!!! The price was $29,000. Probably sold for a bit less. I loved it.

I watched my futbol team’s game tonite when I got home. I found a live feed on the internet. What an awful feed that was!! Just blobs of colour. But it does not show here until 1am so it was better than nothing. It was a tense, action-filled game that we won!!! Will help make the play offs.

Willie continues to sow our wheat. I hope the rain stays away until he is done.

I think I am as done packing as I can be until morning. My pre-travel jitters are really bad this time. No idea why. I am going to Arizona tomorrow and then fly home on friday. There is a mall near our house there. And we might get massages while there. And eat at some great places.

I am not able to blogg while I am gone. There is not internet in our house there. I will mostly be on Twitter which goes to my FaceBook. I can check here and make comments as time allows. And the same on FaceBook. I can do all that on my Blackberry, plus get and receive my emails. That should ward off my withdrawl symptoms!!

02/10/09 Friday

If your name is Love or Ludvig, then today is your day!

Weather was cooler with horrendous winds. Awful winds. I am freezing in the house. Nice and sunny but a nasty cold wind.

Today was Swedish group again. People were so late in coming I thought that Elly and I would be the only ones there!! We had a good turnout and a good program.

BUT. I am totally pi—ed off at our local paper. Last week we had a potluck brunch as a thank you to 3 members. In the minutes that go into the paper every week they totally cut out the honourees name and that we were thanking them. We are not allowed to ever use the words ‘thank you’ in our minutes. IF we want to thank anyone we are to BUY a thank you to go in the paper. How petty is that? We are a poor little group of mostly retired people. In no way can we afford to pay for anything much. Damn greedy fools.

I had to meet with my accountant. Trying to move my mutual funds from one place to another. Found out that my bank had taken over control of my funds. Idiots. Now they are losing my money all together. Had to write a letter to them asking for a check of all my monies and telling them where to send it.

I had lunch with Sally and then bought groceries. Trying to make sure Willie has food while I am gone.

Photos taken around Lindsborg and in the Bouquet Shoppe.

Willie is actually working the ground and will be sowing wheat soon. Jo is abandoned. Poor thing! She has now figured out that if she puts her right paw on the front door handle the door will start to open. Then she puts her left paw on the edge of the door and violá! Door open. Now when Willie leaves her inside when i am gone, he has to lock the door! That Jo! She is a clever one!!!

01/10/09 Busy days

If your name is Ragna or Ragnar, then today is your day!

Weather was much warmer yesterday --- in the upper 80’s. And very strong winds. There was rain in Kansas last nite but all we got was some thunder very late. Was supposed to be rainy today but it was all cancelled. Need it to stay dry so Willie can sow our wheat. He is a bit behind.

Yesterday was a day of errands. Started with going to a couple of banks in Lindsborg. Afterwards I met Sally and Chad for lunch at Jalisco’s. My fave waiter greeted me and asked me what I wanted to drink in Spanish --- just like he thought I knew what he was saying!! Kind of fun!

After lunch I was off to Abilene for meds. The wind did not make the trip fun. After meds, back to Salina for stuff at Target.

Today is just housework, laundry, and starting to pack for my upcoming trip to Arizona

It's October

Welcome October.

With its cool days and even cooler nights. With the trees beginning their change into robes of red, yellow and gold. And with one of the best holidays of the year – Halloween!

And we’ve got all month to get ready for tricks and treats, jack o’lanterns, and those sweet, sweet bags of Halloween candy. Milky Ways, Toostie Rolls, and Candy Corn anyone? (yes I really do like candy corn!)

October, the 10th month of the year, was originally the eight month of the year (”octo” means eight).*

Days: 31
Birthstone: Opal
Flower: Calendula
Season: Fall
Horoscope: Libra, Scorpio

Week's start

If your name is Mikael or Mikaela, then today is your day!

Weather was very cold last nite. By 9pm it was already 49. I almost froze in class and then walking to my car --- !!!! Brrr. It got down to 39 this morning. I had my comforter over my head. Nice sleeping!! Sunny today without a cloud in the sky, but rain comes on thursday. Poor Willie. It never quite gets dry enough to start sowing our wheat.

I did nothing yesterday until late afternoon. Then it was off to jalisco’s to meet Eric for supper. Afterwards was class. We watched Vertigo. I love it. It is a feast for both eyes and ears. Class was small. Just Cedric, Ty, and me. No idea where the others were. I will miss next week.

Yesterday I walked around the yard and took some photos. Few flowers seen but I found a giant mushroom. Willie was hauling some cattle home with Jo’s expert help. Tried to get her photo in the truck but she kept laying down.

Weekend recap

If your name is Dagmar or Rigmor, then today is your day!

Weather has been gorgeous this weekend. Wow. Getting really spoiled here.

Yesterday I worked as usual at the Red Barn. An old old friend of our artist, Lester Raymer, was here to talk about Lester and his life. He came in early in the afternoon with his brother and sister-in-law. His name is Larry Smith. We had never met. I soon came to adore him. And so much knowledge. I asked him so many questions and learned so much I never knew. I took notes so I would not forget.

Larry spoke to a gathering of 37 people. Should have so many more there but it was a nice crowd. I learned much more. he did a pastel of Lester he has donated to our studio. I like it a lot. I hope we hang it in a special place. We filmed his talk and we still hope he returns again. All of our docents should have been there. There were 2 of us only. Sad. All present artists should have come to hear him. I saw 3. He talked about Lindsborg so many years ago. I loved every minute. Afterwards there was finger foods, wine, tea, & coffee. One of the wines was a blackberry wine. It rose to the top of my faves list!! And I was given the bottle and what was left to take home. Mmm.

Today I met Sally, Paul, and John for lunch at the college caf. There more were students than usual there to eat. And many of the girls softball team were there in uniform. Played right after lunch.

On the way home I drove through a cemetery and took some photos and before leaving town I walked about the art gallery yard for flower photos. And I saw my first official tree wtih changing leaves. Autumn is truly here now.

Tonite I forced Willie to take me to Salina to eat. My allergies are bad or I am getting a cold. Tried to nap but could not. Ended our meal with an ice cream cone from Braum’s. Mmmm.

Thanks, sunflowers, & rain

If your name is Gerhard or Gert, then today is your day!

Weather was rainy today. Started out with clouds moving in and rain by 11am. Then off and on until early evening. Late this afternoon we had a humongous clap of thunder that made me jump. LIghtning hit near my house. We lost electricity for maybe 30 sec. Of course the satellite went out. Poor Jo. She now needs therapy and wine.

Swedish club this morning. We had a potluck brunch as a thank you to Evald and LeRoy for setting up our tables every week and to Priscilla who is moving away. She is our Swedish teacher. Now they are stuck with me. We had more food than I thought would be there. We had a basket for each of them and everyone was supposed to bring a card for each of them separately. I bought a small flower arrangement for each of them. A nice morning.

I drove back to Salina again. I bought a small suitcase for an upcoming trip. And the cats were out of food.

On the way home I stopped at a sunflower field for some photos. Most of the fields the flowers are gone but this one is a bit late.

Tomorrow I work, attend at talk at the Red Barn, then home to watch my futbol on tv!!
